Large family photographed at golden hour in Summerlin, Las Vegas, with the Spring Mountains behind them

Summerlin family photography, ten minutes from home

Trail bridges, desert washes, and long golden light on the west side of Las Vegas.

Why Summerlin works

Summerlin is the easiest yes in Las Vegas. The trail system, the arroyo bridges, and the open desert edges along the western foothills give a session real variety without a long drive, and the Spring Mountains sit behind almost every frame as the sun drops.

It suits big extended families, senior portraits, couples, and kids who need room to move. I pick the meeting point, the light, and the walking route so the location supports your pictures instead of taking them over.

Sessions that fit Summerlin

Extended family portraits

Wide desert shoulders and level trail sections make it simple to place twelve people and still keep everyone in the same light. Bring the grandparents.

Senior and personal portraits

Boulder fields, steel trail bridges, and open sky give three genuinely different looks inside one short walk, so a senior session never repeats itself.

Couples and pets

Quiet pockets away from the main path suit slower sessions, and the dog is welcome on the trails as long as the leash stays on.

Planning your Summerlin photo session

Best time of day

The last 90 minutes before sunset is the one to book. Summerlin sits high enough on the west side that the mountains hold color a little longer than the rest of the valley.

What to wear

Warm neutrals, soft creams, rust, and olive read beautifully against desert brush. Keep the group inside two or three tones and avoid bright white in full sun.

Getting there and parking

Most Summerlin sessions happen at a park, with a marked lot a short, flat walk from where we shoot. Trailhead lots work the same way. I send the exact meeting pin and parking instructions once your date is set.

Pacing with kids

Sessions are planned around attention spans, not a shot list. We stay close to the car, move in short bursts, and let younger kids run between frames.

Summerlin session questions

How long is a Summerlin photo session?

Family sessions run 60 minutes. Couples and portrait sessions run 30 minutes. Elopement and wedding coverage starts at two hours. Boudoir runs 60 minutes or more, depending on the location and the style you are after. Newborn sessions also run 60 minutes, but they are photographed indoors, at the studio or in your home.

When will we get our photos?

For most sessions your finished gallery is delivered within 72 hours through a private online gallery.

Is there much walking involved?

It depends on the spot. A quarter mile at most if we are on a trail, and most Summerlin sessions are at a park instead, so usually less. If anyone in the group has limited mobility, tell me ahead and I will choose a spot we can shoot within sight of the parking lot.

What is the best month for Summerlin photos?

October through April is the most comfortable stretch, with the best desert color in late fall and early spring. Summer sessions still work if we start right at sunrise or sunset.
